Grilled Zesty Greek Chicken

Grilled Zesty Greek Chicken is a simple and delicious summer grilling recipes (or any time of year). Packed with herb and citrus flavors makes a new household favorite chicken recipe.

Grilled chicken is a family favorite in our house. I love marinating my chicken in different flavors to get a delicious and unique meal. My Grilled Zesty Greek Chicken is simple, but the flavors will impress any guest and leave them asking you, “what do you do to your chicken!?”.

The ranch dressing might be a slight brow raise, but trust me that it helps lock in the flavors and creates juicy and tender chicken, and makes this packed with flavor. I love using ranch as a background flavor in marinades because it locks all the flavors into the meat and is not the dominant flavor after cooking.

I use the same method with my BBQ Grilled Chicken Breasts and use seasoned mayo to lock in the moisture.

I love to serve this chicken dish with my Greek Orzo with Feta and Tomato. The flavors compliment each other perfectly, and served with a fresh salad is a meal that can’t be beat.

How To Make Juicy Grilled Chicken

I have had people tell me their hesitations or poor experiences with grilling chicken because it ends up dry or undercooked.

Many people cut into the chicken to check for pink before the chicken has had a chance to rest and retain the flavor. My advice is to get a meat thermometer and use a good marinade. It will save you so much worry, and you will avoid cutting into the meat spilling the moisture from the chicken.

I am a big fan of my Thermopop meat thermometer, and recommend them to anyone looking for an easy use and easy ready thermometer. Use your meat thermometer and do not cut into the chicken!

Ingredients

  • boneless, skinless chicken breasts – chicken thighs or even drumsticks work great too!
  • olive oil – any oil can be substituted
  • ranch dressing
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • white wine vinegar – apple cider vinegar works great as well.
  • Greek seasoning – typically store bought seasonings contain some combination of the following: oregano, dill, basil, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, parsley, and thyme. Here is a great recipe for Greek seasoning from Recipes from a Pantry.
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • sugar
  • lemon juice – I recommend using fresh lemon juice for my Grilled Zesty Greek Chicken.

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the olive oil, ranch dressing, Worcestershire sauce, Greek seasoning, salt, lemon juice, vinegar, pepper, and sugar. 
  2. Place chicken in the gallon size sealable bag. Add marinade, push air out of the bag and seal. Refrigerate for at least 8 hours.
  3. Heat the grill for medium-high heat. Grill chicken for 5-6 minutes per side, or until the chicken is no longer pink in the center and reaches 165° Fahrenheit (75° Celsius). 
  4. Remove from grill, rest for 2-3 minutes and serve.

Grilled Zesty Greek Chicken

Ingredients 

 

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • ½ cup ranch dressing
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • 1 ½ tablespoon greek seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Juice from ½ a medium lemon

Instructions 

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the olive oil, ranch dressing, Worcestershire sauce, greek seasoning, salt, lemon juice, vinegar, pepper, and sugar. 

  • Place chicken in the gallon size ziplock bag. Add marinade, push air out of the bag and seal. Refrigerate for at least 8 hours.
